Sean Harrington

Bio

Sean earned his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, where he investigated a quantum dot based number resolving single-photon detector. Post-graduation, he worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, CO studying and characterizing superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors. Sean is an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship recipient. He joined the group in 2012 when he began pursuing his PhD in Materials at UCSB. Sean is also a former collegiate national champion in triathalon. After gaining his PhD, he stayed on as PostDoc where he research a variety of topics including the band offsets and the topology of alpha-Sn.
