Chris Palmstrøm is the 2018 David Adler Lectureship Award recipient "for innovative experimental research, lectures, and writing in the areas of dissimilar materials epitaxy, heterostructures and interfaces in thin films." Congratulations!
Sean Harrington, Tobias Brown-Heft, Joon Sue Lee, Shouvik Chatterjee, Dan Pennachio, Mihir Pendharkar, and Sukgeun Choi had papers presented at the 45th PCSI conference in Kona, Hawaii (January 14-18). Other lab collaborators attending the conference were Rainer Timm and Jovana Colvin from Lund University and Chip Eddy and Samantha Rosenberg from NRL, as well as some other very signficant friends of the lab.
The AVS 65th Symposium was held in Long Beach, CA. Most of the lab presented papers or were on papers including Tobias Brown-Heft, Shouvik Chatterjee, Sukgeun Choi, Sean Harrington, Anthony McFadden, Mihir Pendharkar, Dan Pennachio; and some recent grads--Jason Kawasaki, Jay Logan, Anthony Rice, and Nate WIlson. Many of the papers were in the Heusler session organized by Jason Kawasaki who is now a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Three visiting researchers have joined the lab this year. We welcome Prof. Mikihiko from Tohoku University, Japan; and two graduate students from the Netherlands - Niki Tumelaire from Eindhoven University of Technology and Nick van Loo from Delft University of Technology.
Mihir gave a talk and Dan presented a poster at the 22nd International Conf. on Electronic Properties of Two Dimensional Systems/18th Int. Conf. on Modulated Semiconductor Structures at Penn State. Both were well received with lots of questions and follow-on discussions.
