At the 45th PCSI conference in Hawaii, Mihir received a PCSI Young Scientist Award given to outstanding young scientists.

Sean Harrington, Tobias Brown-Heft, Joon Sue Lee, Shouvik Chatterjee, Dan Pennachio, Mihir Pendharkar, and Sukgeun Choi had papers presented at the 45th PCSI conference in Kona, Hawaii (January 14-18). Other lab collaborators attending the conference were Rainer Timm and Jovana Colvin from Lund University and Chip Eddy and Samantha Rosenberg from NRL, as well as some other very signficant friends of the lab.

Chloe, a baby, accompanied by Joon Sue and Hye-Young, attended her first conference at PCSI in Hawaii. Her vocabulary already includes Heuslers, spintronics and quantum computing.

Anthony Rice starts a postdoc at NREL working on laser enhanced MBE growth of III-V semiconductors with Dr. Kirstin Alberi. Definitely a "golden" opportunity!

The AVS 65th Symposium was held in Long Beach, CA. Most of the lab presented papers or were on papers including Tobias Brown-Heft, Shouvik Chatterjee, Sukgeun Choi, Sean Harrington, Anthony McFadden, Mihir Pendharkar, Dan Pennachio; and some recent grads--Jason Kawasaki, Jay Logan, Anthony Rice, and Nate WIlson. Many of the papers were in the Heusler session organized by Jason Kawasaki who is now a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Three visiting researchers have joined the lab this year. We welcome Prof. Mikihiko from Tohoku University, Japan; and two graduate students from the Netherlands - Niki Tumelaire from Eindhoven University of Technology and Nick van Loo from Delft University of Technology.

Mihir gave a talk and Dan presented a poster at the 22nd International Conf. on Electronic Properties of Two Dimensional Systems/18th Int. Conf. on Modulated Semiconductor Structures at Penn State. Both were well received with lots of questions and follow-on discussions.

Jay has passed his thesis defense and has accepted a position at Raytheon in Boston. He will be working with former lab member Brian Schultz.
